The Health Benefits of Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera has been used to treat IBS. I have read a testimonial from one person claiming that it cured nearly two decades of IBS. That is why I tried it. It has also been used to treat Chron's disease and skin disease's. I have used aloe vera in capsule form that goes by the name of Aloeride. Combined with the right diet it has worked wonders with my IBS. I tried originally taking Aloe vera juice. the taste was indescribable, and that does not mean nice!! Have you ever had to drink medicine you didnt like when you were a child??? well think that times ten!!!
That is why I tried aloe vera in capsule form, commonly known as aloeride, when it was recommended to me. Aloe vera comes in several forms, Aloe vera juice,Aloe vera Jell and Aloe vera powder or commonly capsule form. the other reason I used the capsule form was because the juice I tried had to be kept in a fridge all the time. I do not think carrying a fridge round in my jacket is helpful! the capsules are small and have a nice taste to them. More importantly they work and do not just come in a nice pretty bottle with a liquid you have to force yourself to swallow.

Testing for Irritable bowel syndrome.

barium enema

Before taking x-rays of your colon and rectum, a thick liquid called barium wil be put into your colon. The barium coats the lining of the colon so any signs of disease in them show up more clearly on x-rays. It also helps to see more clearly the size and shape of the colon.
You may experience some discomfort the procedure. The barium causees fullness and pressure in your abdomen and gives you the urge to have a bowel movement. However, that rarely happens because the tube used to inject the barium has a balloon on the end of it that prevents the liquid from coming back out.
After the x-rays are done, you will be able to go to the bathroom. The radiologist may also take an x-ray of the empty colon afterwards.
the whole process takes one to two hours. The barium may cause constipation and make your stool turn gray or white for a few days after the procedure.
How do you prepare for a barium enema?Your colon must be empty for a barium enema to be accurate. To prepare, you will have to restrict your diet for a few days beforehand. youmight be able to drink only liquids and eat only non-sugar, non-dairy foods for two days before the procedure; only clear liquids the day before; and nothing after midnight the night before.
To make sure your colon is empty, you will be given a laxative or an enema before the procedure.

symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome

Rome Criteria for IBS
, diagnosis for IBS is often a process of elimination.
a set of criteria, known as Rome Criteria, for IBS and other functional gastrointestinal disorders has been developed where the bowel appears normal but doesn't function normally.
According to the Rome Criteria, you must have certain signs and symptoms before a doctor diagnoses IBS.
To satisfy the Rome Criteria, you must satisfy the following conditions:
The most important signs and symptoms are abdominal pain and diarrhea or constipation occurring for at least 12 weeks during the past 12 months, though they don't have to occur consecutively.
The abdominal pain or discomfort has to satisfy two of the following three features:

1/ It is relieved by having a bowel movement.
2/ When it starts, there is a change in how often you have a bowel movement.
3/ When it starts, there is a change in the form of the stool or the way it looks.

You also need to have at least two of the following:

1/ A change in the frequency or consistency of your stool. For example, you may change from having one normal, formed stool every day to three or more loose stools daily. Or you may have only one hard stool every three to four days.
2/ Straining, urgency or a feeling that you can't empty your bowels completely.
3/ Mucus in your stool.
4/ Bloating or abdominal distension.
5/ A change in appearance of bowel movements.
6/ Feelings of uncontrollable urgency to have a bowel movement.
7/ Difficulty or inability to pass stool.

irritable bowel syndrome

I contracted IBS in my mid thirties. I had my gall bladder removed
and after a protracted time in hospital due to complications I discovered I had IBS.
At the time I did not know what it was or how to treat it. I had very little help from
doctors at the hospital or from my own GP. My own GP simply said."It will go away".
It didnt go away and eventually I did get some help and after along period of time bought it under control and all the horrible symptoms that go with it.
Im sure you know what the symptoms are and I do not need to repeat them.
the main way of bringing it under control is a change of diet. everone has different "triggers"
for IBS.
I tried numerous other alternative's including Aloe vera juice, this had an unfortunate side effect of being a laxative. Eventually I found aloe vera in powder form and recently I found it in capsule form, through a recommendation from someone else. my personal experience is aloe vera combined with a change in diet has brought my IBS under control and I dare say alomst stopped it
